building computers!

end of year update

this year I rebuilt 2 computers putting ubuntu on both of them. I also learned alot about computer parts

Before the end of term I want to set up a wired network to my room so I have faster InternetI also want to rebuild the family mac

finally I would also like to set up a nwtworke printer in my house

What I need for this project is a newer better printer, I also need a long cat 5 cable, and new parts for the mac.

Briefly describe the project:

we are working on dual booting a mac with ubuntu and osX,

i am also beggining to try to set up a wireless network in the room.

What have you accomplished this week?

we looked into how long it would take to totally take apart a mac motherboard and put it back, it took just over an hour.

What problems have you overcome this week?

we figured out how to take a mac motherboard off...it wasnt easy.

What are the most significant problems you face at this time? What will you do to meet these problems?

we still need to put osX on the computer

we have instasled battle for wesnoth after concederable work...

we made add remove work, previously we were having internet problems

we are working on dual booting a mac with ubuntu and osX

we wiped the password protected hard drive and instaled ubuntu on it.

What problems have you overcome this week?

we figured out how to wipe a hard drive with a password, we also overcame a ram problem.

we still need to put osX on the computer, i will try to find a instal disk and if that wont work i could torrent osX

mitch took our pentium 2 home today.

now we are starting on a project to make a mac dual boot ubuntu

we finished our computer.

we made our computer work again after it wouldnt start

at this point we need to figure out how to make ubuntu work on a mac.

we need a usb keyboard and mouse for the mac.

we have built the computer figured out an internet connection, and now we are adding and removing programs to the computer.

What have you accomplished this week?

we have figured out a router for our computers and are all now hooked up to the internet.

What problems have you overcome this week?

we have figured out that daisy chaining computers will not work.

at this point we need to figure out what ubuntu can do.
